Floyd “Wally” Waterbury, age 95, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, May 28, 2011, at Blissfield Place in Blissfield, Michigan, lovingly supported by his family and care givers. He was born to Fred and Florence Waterbury of Blissfield, Michigan on December 21, 1915. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1934, and from Michigan State University’s Poultry Course in 1935.

He managed the Waterbury Poultry Farm from 1935-1951. He then worked in the family construction business until 1965, when he was hired by Metamora State Bank, where he became a member of the Board of Directors and retired in 1982. He was a charter member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metamora, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and Council member for many years. He also served on the Lenawee County Agricultural Council, coached little league for 5 years, and was actively devoted to the Boy Scouts of America for 35 years. During this time, he enjoyed being the Cub Master for Troop 167, and promoted Scouting throughout the Shawnee Council. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his outstanding service.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Mayes, and is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Miller, and his son, John (Marie) Waterbury, both of Blissfield, MI; 7 grandchildren, Kristen (Joe) Gledhill of Montesano, WA, Angela (Matt) Kimerer of Saline, MI, Aaron (Claire) Miller of Plymouth, MI, Josh (Andrea) Miller of Blissfield, MI, Zebulun (Tina) Waterbury of Grants, NM, Abby Waterbury of Rancho Ebenezer, Honduras, and Ashley Waterbury of Anderson, IN; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Harold (Martha) Waterbury of Metamora, OH; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, May 31st from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Amanda Ghaffarian officiating. Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.
