Florian “Bill” Haupricht, age 83, a long-time resident of Delta, Ohio, entered the gates of heaven, Friday afternoon, December 14, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. He was born on June 28, 1929, in Holland, Ohio to William and Mary (Fleig) Haupricht. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. On October 23, 1954, he married his beloved wife, Anna Mae Onweller.

Bill was a life-long potato and produce farmer. He and his wife were the original owners and operators of the Country Dip and the Little Red Barn produce stand in rural Delta. He enjoyed flower gardening, cooking for his family, road trips, and reading. He was a member of the Swanton Elks Lodge and enjoyed playing euchre with his family and friends. Bill was an Ohio State and Tigers fan, and took pleasure watching local sports teams. He was known for his homemade sauerkraut, sometimes making as much as 30 gallons to give away to friends and family.

Bill passed on many memorable things to his children, one being his great work ethic. He will be remembered in the community as a very social person who could carry on a conversation with anyone.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Delta American Legion Post #373, and the Swanton Elks.

His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his loving grandchildren. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Mae; children, Cheryl Haupricht, Mark (Kellie) Haupricht, and Laura (Rick) Elton; grandchildren, Jessica and Nathan Haupricht, Aaron Zenz, and Collin and Benjamin Elton; brother, Tom (Marlene) Haupricht; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Haupricht; 5 sisters; and 7 brothers.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, December 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, December 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr.
