Florence Beatrice Newman, age 91, of Swanton, Ohio, formerly of South Toledo, entered into rest, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. She was born September 2, 1917 in Swanton, Ohio to William and Emma (Frasch) Minnich. She married Richard Newman on December 30, 1939; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005.

Florence was a wonderful loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was Judith’s best friend and shopping partner and could shop for hours. Florence’s shopping genes were passed on to her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Judith (Myron) Bohnert of Swanton, OH; granddaughter, Amy Jo (Ron) Rouleau of Delta, OH; grandson, Dean (Linda) Bohnert of Cypress, TX; great grandchildren, Kevin, Eric, Conner, Colin, Reagan, and Alex. Also surviving is a sister Geraldine Everingham of Swanton, OH.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Newman, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, February 7th from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Barbara Jean Pope officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.

We all loved Florence very much and will miss her terribly. She was always a bright spot in our lives.
