Estella Marguerite (Jordan) Bradford, born April 03, 1909, passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, due to the infirmities of great age in Deland, Florida, at the residence of her elder son, James R. Bradford. She is now reunited in Heaven with her husband of seventy years, the late Ronald J. Bradford. She is survived by her sons James R. Bradford and his wife Carolyn of Deland, Florida, and Keith D. Bradford and his wife Barbara of Crossville, Tennessee. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Spencer Wade Bradford and his wife Renee of Durham, North Carolina, Stacey Bradford of Washington, D.C. and Suzanne A. (Bradford) Stanley and her husband Andrew of Ormskirk, England. She has one great-grandchild, John Smythe Spencer ‘Joss” Bradford of Durham, North Carolina. She is also remembered by her friend of 96 years, Marie Walp of Bradenton, FL.
A faithful Christian, wife and mother, she was an example of Christian love and kindness to all that knew her. She was a long time member of Brailey Union Church, Swanton, Ohio. Estella was born and grew up on a small farm north of Swanton, Ohio. She graduated from Swanton High School in 1925. After graduating she stayed home to care for her parents in their last years. She married Ronald Bradford in 1933 during the Great Depression and cared for their two sons while her husband served in the Navy in World War II. While a full time homemaker, with her husband she operated an equipment rental yard from their home for many years in the 1950’s and 1960’s. She leaves a number of beautifully executed drawings exhibiting a skill few knew she possessed. Many were the wonderful meals she prepared and well kept was the home she maintained. A quiet life filled with meaning. She will be missed.
