Eleanor Jane Hartbarger

Eleanor Jane Hartbarger, age 84, of South Toledo, entered eternal life, Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2013 at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. She was born July 20, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to David B. and Felicia M. (Baranski) Epperly. She married the love of her life, Charles H. Hartbarger. He preceded her in death 6 months to the day of Eleanor’s death.

Eleanor was a homemaker for so many years, and loved making everything perfect for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed painting ceramics, and early on painted portraits.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Eric (Debbie) Hartbarger; daughter, Licia Willis; 7 grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia Arnold and Amelia; brother-in-law, Earl (Libby) Hartbarger; and her best friend, Rosie.

Besides her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles, Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; son, James; son-in-law, Tony Willis; brother-in-law, Glenn; and sister-in-law, Marzel.

The family would like to thank God for the gift of compassion, Lisa Mitchell and the entire staff of Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. Also, Gentiva Hospice for making her last days more comfortable and for all of their love and support throughout Eleanor’s difficult time at the end of her journey, as well as all the Doctor’s and nurses at Arrowhead Dialysis Center.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. and process to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) with Fr. Michael Dandurand officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will be private.
