Edwina Louise Butler

Entombment: Highland Memory Gardens

Edwina Louise (Kramp) Butler, age 80, of Napoleon, Ohio, joined our Lord Jesus Christ, Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2013, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her adoring family. Edwina was born December 15, 1932 to Edward and Vera Kramp. A 1950 graduate of Monclova School, she and her loving husband, Leon Butler, settled in the area to raise their eight children. She went on to attend Stautzenberger College, earning a degree as a medical assistant. Edwina spent time between her family and her career working as an office administrator to the late Dr. Khan. She retired after working 25 years at the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where she found her passion and her dear friend, Jeremy Butler. After retiring in 2000, Edwina spent a great deal of time with him and her 19 grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra (Doug Hamilton) Butler of Toledo, OH, Tina (Peter) Baker of Chattanooga, TN, and Todd (Beth) Butler of Sylvania, OH; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Also surviving is her special friend, Jeremy Butler.

Edwina was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Butler; sons, Leon “Corky” Butler III, Dennis Butler, and Eric Butler; daughters, Linn (Gorney) Butler and Dawn (Arnette) Butler; her parents; and sister.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 8th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities in the name of Jeremy Butler.
