Edward J. Pawlinski, Jr., age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 19th, 2009. Ed was born in Swanton on July 11th, 1929, to Edward and Helen Pawlinski. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1947 and was sent to Korea. During the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, he earned various medals, including two Purple Hearts for his wounds and distinguished service. When Ed returned home, he married his loving wife, Betty J. Kasten in 1951.
Ed worked and retired as a Pipe Fitter for the Sun Oil Company. After retirement, Ed purchased and drove a dump truck named “Tough Marine”. His love for Country and Service poured through from decals on his dump truck, to the many flags and red, white and blue emblems scattered throughout his home. Ed took pleasure in trips to the Casino and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed his loving family and many friends.
During Ed’s long battle with cancer, he never complained. He kept a smile on his face, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his long, loving wife, Betty; son, Mike (Peggy) Pawlinski; daughters, Becky (Bob) Johnson and Robin Chaevlier; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pawlinski; sister, Delores Swincicki; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
