Edna D. Hallnan, affectionately known as “GG”, age 97, of Holland, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her adoring family, Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born March 3, 1916 in Defiance, Ohio to Carl and Helen (Meyer) Kolbe. She married Carlton Hallnan, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2001.
Edna worked at the Pilliod Cabinet Company for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Providence Lutheran Church in Holland. She and Carlton enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Florida, and truly enjoyed shuffleboard, bingo and playing cards. She also loved going to the beach and admiring the palm trees.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Myrna Purdy of Fayette, OH, Norma (Bill) Kidder of Toledo, OH and Linda Warner-Judson of Perrysburg, OH; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lorena Allen of Lyons, OH; sister-in-law, Bonnie Kolbe of Sylvania, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Carlton, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, John Judson; and siblings, Helen Derby, Marie Sterling, Rudolph Kolbe, Clarence Kolbe, Raymond Kolbe, Henry Kolbe, Isabelle Kolbe and Carl Kolbe, Jr.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
