E. Elaine Mollencopf

E. Elaine Mollencopf, age 69, of Pemberville, Ohio, formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Bay Park Community Hospital. She was born September 17, 1945 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Ferris and Mary Ellen (Hartwell) Mollencopf.

Elaine was a 1963 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Otterbein College, and her Masters in guidance and counseling from the University of Toledo. Elaine taught English in Albion Michigan for one year, and the rest of her teaching career was devoted to Swanton High School, where she served in many roles. She was Advisor for Paw Prints, Yearbook, and directed many theatrical productions. She also served in various leadership positions in SEA, OEA, and NEA.

After retirement, Elaine worked as an office secretary for Swanton Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a long time and active member, recently transferring her membership to Bradner United Methodist Church. At Trinity, Elaine was involved in the chancel choir, bell choir, and also played piano and organ. She also served as a Certified Lay Leader, Church Camping Chair, Lay Leader, she made church banners and was part of the United Methodist Church Secretary Union. Her memberships also included the Emmaus community and she was responsible for planning many Emmaus activities. She was a member of the Swanton Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

Elaine is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gail Mollencopf; nephew, Izak (Tanya) Gore and grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Sheldon Gore; and niece, Chelsie Mollencopf.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, December 7th, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St. in Swanton, where services celebrating Elaine's life will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swanton Local Schools Foundations Scholarship, 108 N. Main St., Swanton, OH 43558 or Trinity United Methodist Church.
