Douglas Alan Sturm, age 37, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013. He was born August 1, 1975 in Toledo, Ohio to Carlton Sturm and Claudia (Ferner) Sturm. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School, Class of ’93. Doug worked alongside his father in the family business - Sturm Heating and Air Conditioning, where his passion was sheet metal fabrication.
Doug was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish and Sons of the American Legion Swanton Post #479. He was an outgoing person and an all around sports fanatic. He was a fan of the Detroit Lions and Michigan University and enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving mother, Claudia; father, Carlton; daughter, Autumn; brothers, Tom Sturm and Ken (Luann) Sturm; nephews, Kyle, Brendan, and Jacob Sturm; Fiancee, Christine Floering, and her three children, Marisa, Miranda, and Chad; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Doug was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Jayne Ferner, and paternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Sturm.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin in the Funeral Home Monday, January 7th at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, with Father Douglas Garand presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Richard Cemetery.
