Douglas Hamilton, age 71, of South Toledo, passed away with his family at his bedside, Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. He was born April 30, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Judge E. and Grace N. (Elliott) Hamilton.
Doug worked as a roofer. He thoroughly enjoyed roofing with his brother, and working on cars with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved being a Poppa.
Doug is survived by his significant other, Sandra Butler; sons, Jacob Hamilton, Noah Hamilton and Doug Hamilton, Jr.; daughter, Theresa Richardson; grandson, Drew Hamilton; stepdaughters, Danielle Shoffer (Jay) and Jennifer Butler (Brett); stepson, Christopher Butler; several step grandchildren; brothers, Sonny (Pat) Hamilton and Robert (Sarah) Hamilton; nephews, Judge, Mark, Mike, Mickey and Jackie; nieces, Missy and Allison; best friend, Dave McCoy; and half-sister, Naoma Crossen.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Charlotte Shipper and Reba Davis; half sister, Adeline Rollins; and half brothers, Joe Hollifield and Jim Hollifield.
Family and friends may visit Saturday, December 27th from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where services celebrating Doug's life will begin at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
