Dorothy M. (Bovee) Hepfinger, age 86, of Swanton, Ohio, formerly of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away Friday morning, February 8, 2008 at Harborside of Swanton. She was born September 6, 1921 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Virgil and Laura (Kreakbaum) Roberts. She married Calvin Bovee and they divorced. She married Harold Hepfinger, and he preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her sons, John Calvin Bovee and Terry Bovee and sister, Mary Schuller.

Dorothy worked at the Pilliod Cabinet Company for 17 years, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Brailey Union Church in Swanton and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Petersburg, Michigan, as well as the Grand Rapids Sportsman Club.

Dorothy had a “Heart of Gold”. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and would always praise her entire family. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She loved walking, playing bingo, playing euchre and dancing. She enjoyed eating at the Hometown Buffet, watching Shirley Temple movies and watching ice skating competitions on television.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Thomas (Wanda) Bovee of Adrian, MI and Russell (Linda) Bovee of Addison, MI; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Roberts and special nephew, Bill (Mary) Keller of Waterville, OH.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Harborside and nurses with Heartland Hospice for their love and support.

Friends and family may visit Monday, February 11th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419-826-2631). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Fritz Kruse officiating. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
