Doris E. (Saeger) Sharples, born March 4, 1921 to Clarence R. and Bessie E. (McQuillin) Saeger, passed away Tuesday morning, November 25, 2014, at Legacy Assisted Living Center in Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from Fulton Centralized High School, attended Davis Business College, and worked for the Government Farm Program for two years, at that time in the new Federal Building on Spielbush.
Doris was united in marriage to D. Morrill Sharples on October 29, 1939, the marriage lasting for sixty years. Morrill preceded her to their heavenly home on April 26, 2000. To this union were born three children, Aneita K. (John) Radov, D. Kent (Linda) Sharples, and Doryl M. (James) Hodgins. Doris also leaves seven very special and deeply loved grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, with another due soon.
An avid Christian, Doris loved working in the church as well as being a dedicated homemaker. Her family always came first after her Lord. She was an office manager and bookkeeper for the Odland Iron Works, Inc. for thirty years and, following retirement, enjoyed traveling to visit her family from east coast to west coast, and everywhere in between. She also enjoyed traveling to Europe and cruising. Doris especially enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Her life was enriched by her many friends and by the many young people she mentored, who became so special to her.
