Donna Rose Gillen, age 97, of Jasper, Michigan, passed away early Friday morning, June 20, 2008 at Kingston of Sylvania. She had been living at her home in Jasper up until a recent stroke. Donna was born December 23, 1910 in Fairfield Twp., Michigan, to Nicholas and Vina (Koder) Gillen.

She graduated from Blissfield High School, Lenawee Co. Normal and received her bachelor’s degree from Adrian College. She attended Siena Heights and Ypsilanti Normal College, now Eastern Michigan University.

Donna was an elementary school teacher for 46 years. She was a member of the Michigan and Ohio Retired Teacher’s Associations and the Coterie Club.

She is survived by her nieces, LeAnn (Jim) Mason and Carol (Robert) Bartholomew; great-nephews, Kent Wyse, Mark Mason and Philip Mason; great-niece Laura Karbula; great-great nieces and nephews, Amber Mertz, Tyler Wyse, Ashley Wyse, Dylan Mason, Cade Mason, Todd Oler and Michele Oler; great-great-great nieces and nephew, Maria Oler, Addison Mertz and Trae Oler and Donna’s close friend, Eleanor Argue.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rowena Schever; great-nephew, Craig Wyse; great-great nephew, Trevor Wyse and great-great niece, Ann Marie Oler.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, June 22nd from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. James Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.
