Donald R. Lumbrezer

Donald R. Lumbrezer of Swanton, Ohio passed away in his sleep during the overnight hours of November 3, 2021. Don is survived by his loving daughters, Allison (Nate) and Danielle (David) and his beloved grandchildren, Trevor, Luke, Makenzie, Brooklyn, Aiden, Makenzie, and Benny. And, of course, his dogs, Frannie and Mimi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milan (Ted) and Margaret (Marg) Lumbrezer and his brother, Nicholas (Nick) Lumbrezer.

Someone who knew him well said “Donnie had so much love to give. He loved BIG!” Yes, he sure did love to love. He loved that dirt outback! Loved watching sunrises and sunsets over varietal crops, loved watching for deer as he drove the combine near dusk. He loved taking the time to appreciate the absolute beauty in the horizon of the fields. He loved the quiet over the lake while fishing early in the morning as much as loud, preferably live, music. He loved to travel and laugh and with as many people as he could. He frequently visited his nephews and nieces in Texas and Pennsylvania. He looked forward to escaping the gray and cold of a NW Ohio winter for the warmth and sunshine of Texas. He was in heaven with access to oceans and farms!

Don was passionate about everything he did. You could feel it when he loved something big! There was no mistaking his love for The Ohio State University football (don’t forget the “The”), farming, fishing, and the Detroit Tigers! He loved sports, especially baseball. It was his favorite sport as a boy and he was watching the World Series at the farm the night before he passed. There have been so many beautiful memories made at the farm over the years. We will continue to make them and know you are smiling and laughing with us, Dad.

We will miss seeing his big smile, the way he would cock his head to the side, and say “hey, hey!” We will miss talking to him. He could talk for hours with ease about anything and nothing at all. He spent many days with his cousin and best friend, Dennis. We will continue to look forward to the gardens Dennis will plant at the farm because we take comfort in knowing Dad is “in the garden…”

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral Home- Metamora (413 E. Main St, Metamora, OH 43540) A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 7:00 PM at the same location where friends and family are welcome to share stories about Don.

I apologize for missing Don's memorial. My husband had surgery Monday and I had to take him to er due to complications that arose.. I loved Donnie, he was my favorite cousin, no offense to all my other cousins. I will miss his smiling face and his heartfelt hug everytime I seen him ( which was never often enough). I was looking forward to visiting with all you other cousins who I also don't see often enough.. I want you ALL to know I LOVE YOU!

Dear family, so sorry will not be able to be with you today but please know you have our sympathy. Don's visits to my mom were appreciated and the special effort he made to come see my sisters and I after she died will always be remembered. May your good memories help you during this time.
