Dennis James Hiltman, affectionately known as “Butch”, age 67, of Wauseon, Ohio, died of a sudden heart attack, Thursday afternoon, August 5, 2010, at his Silver Lake cottage in Addison, Michigan. He was born November 9, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Emil and Kathleen (Clark) Hiltman. Butch graduated from Whitmer High School, and on

May 29, 1965, married his sweetheart, Colleen Curley.

Butch worked as a machinist at Dana Corporation until his retirement. He was a member of UAW Local 12, Sons of the American Legion and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swanton. He enjoyed cooking, tinkering with home improvement projects, and spending the summer at his Silver Lake cottage. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 45 years, Colleen; daughters, Jodi (Ryan) Sink and Mindy Hiltman; grandchildren, Shayla Gates and Colin Sink; and sisters, Kathleen (Curtis) Sellick and Judy (Richard) Sturdevant. His caring ways and sense of humor will be missed by all his family and friends.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, James.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, August 10th from 2 to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 200 Dodge St. in Swanton, where visitation will be one half hour prior to the service. Rev. Brian Haller will officiate. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Children’s Home, Respite House or Faith Lutheran Church.
