David "Bud" Taylor, age 89, long time resident of Swanton, Ohio, passed away of natural causes in his Waterville home, Wednesday evening, May 13, 2015. Bud was born February 4, 1926 in Tiffin, Ohio to Raymond and Elamay (Burlingame) Taylor. Bud was a WWII United States Marine Corps Veteran and member of Whitehouse American Legion Post #384. He was also a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish and the Masonic Lodge.
Bud was an insurance representative for Farmers Insurance, retiring in 2003. Prior to his insurance career, Bud was a foreman for Kasel Iron and Steel and worked with area building contractors overseeing the construction of upscale
homes in the Riva Ridge and Treemore Subdivisions. He will be remembered as a Jack-of-All Trades. He could do almost anything. He enjoyed fishing, trying his luck playing the slots at the casinos, farming, traveling, and watching his favorite sport teams, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his children, Karen (Michael) Taylor-Green, Richard (Brenda) Taylor, Christopher (Debbie) Taylor, Whitey (Janet) Taylor, Becky (Andy) Stidham, and Matt (Mary) Taylor; stepdaughters, Ginny (Bob) Navarre and Debbie (Russ) Iott; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter; several step grandchildren; sister, Nannette Norris; stepbrother, Bill Fisher; sister-in-law, Loretta Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Dorothy Tank.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Seel, second wife, Daphne Drewicz, third wife, Grace Mapes; daughters, Kathleen Loch and Raeann Lemke; stepfather, Cecil Fisher; stepdaughter, Linda Shadel; grandson, David Loch; and siblings, Betty Harkless, Patricia Jimison, and Clayton Taylor.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, May 20th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a Masonic Service will begin at 7:00 p.m., and reciting of the Rosary at 7:20 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, May 21st at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at St. Richard Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Stripe presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
