David Vern Peters

David Vern Peters, age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Heartland of Wauseon. David was born October 19, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to Leonard and Laura L. (Chase) Peters. He graduated from Swanton High School, Class of ’51.

David worked as a steel fabricator for Surface Combustion and was Co-Owner of Xpress Auto and Truck for 27 years. He was a contributing member of the Swanton Athletic Boosters and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting. He loved kids and collecting classic cars, especially Ford Model Ts.

David is survived by his beloved companion, Jean Schlosser; siblings, Carol Poorman of St. Marys, OH, twin sister, Donna Mikolajczyk of Sun City, AZ, and Martin Peters of Goldsboro, NC; special nieces, Bev Schlosser and Zoe Scheuer; 17 nieces and nephews; all the guys at Xpress Auto; and many more family and friends throughout the U.S. and New Zealand.

David was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Bernard, Doris, Lewis, and Wilbur Peters.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, February 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Swanton Athletic Boosters or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
