David Michael Leach, Sr.

David Michael Leach, Sr., age 72, of Lyons, Ohio, died Saturday morning, March 9, 2019 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.  He was born December 28, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to James Arnold and Alice R. (Barrett) Leach.  Dave was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary Assumption High School and attended Horry-Georgetown Technical College. 

Dave was a skilled craftsman and self-employed carpenter.  He loved playing and singing along with his guitar, woodworking and being outdoors whether it was tending to his flower garden or fishing.

Dave is survived by his sons, David (Julie) Samson, Phillip Samson (Stephanie Jahnke) and Joshua Smith; daughters, Sariah (Michael) Flynn and Danielle Leach; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.  Also surviving is his sister, Brenda Holdridge (Jerry Eicher); sister-in-law, Charlotte Leach and Dave’s loving partner of over 20 years, Carol Miller – “I will love him forever…..Thank you for everything and taking such good care of me.”

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Phillip Leach.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, March 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a memorial service celebrating David’s life will begin at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
