Cyril J. Hudik, affectionately known as “Cisco”, age 81, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 4, 1928 in Metamora, Ohio to Cyril and Agnes (Holubik) Hudik. He graduated from Metamora High School, where he was a star basketball player. On August 7, 1948, he married Eileen Loeffler, his beloved high school sweetheart.
Cisco worked as a drywall contractor for 42 years. He took pride in his work and earned the reputation of being one of “the best” in Toledo. He taught the trade to his sons, and was even more proud of their reputations. He then went on to perfect the art of leisure in his retirement.
Cyril was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a sports enthusiast following his favorite teams Notre Dame and Ohio State. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting and bowling. He loved being in the kitchen baking and looking for new items to bake from his Taste of Homes magazine. Cyril was a family man, who loved being around family and friends in any type of social setting. He was the kind of person who could bring everyone together, no matter the circumstances.
Cisco was always ready to travel. His priority were trips to Vermont to visit family, but he also enjoyed trips to Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Florida.
Cyril is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eileen; children, Janet Gray & Brian Burnor, Ron Hudik, James & Peggy Hudik, Marilyn O’Connor, Kenny & Debbie Hudik, Donald & Cindy Hudik, Annette Hudik, Sharon Chayer, Scott & Amy Hudik, and Sandy & Jami Thrailkill; 27 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Cyril greatly loved his entire family and always looked forward to time spent with them. His favorite phrase was always “don’t forget to come back!”
Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; first-born daughter, Carol Ann; sister, Mary Ann Vasko; sons-in-law, Ashley Gray and Jack Chayer; and grandson, Wayne Gray.
