Cora Belle Betz, age 82, of Morenci, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She was born December 5, 1925 in Metamora, Ohio to the late Elvin and Elizabeth (Kline) Iffland. On September 19, 1944, she married Wendell T. Betz, at the Metamora United Methodist Church. Cora Belle worked at several area restaurants as a cook and worked on the family farm.

Cora Belle was a lifetime member of Metamora United Methodist Church, Metamora Women’s Society, the Elks and the Garden Club. She loved to play BINGO, cards and gardening. Her passion was cooking. She was the best cook and baker, and will be remembered for her wonderfully prepared Sunday family dinners and delicious pie crusts. She also was a wonderful caregiver to her family.

She is survived by children, Melvin (Dini) Betz, Diane (Melvin) Darm, Ted (Judy) Betz, and Gale (Bev) Betz; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Inez Cox, Margaret Manzagol, Norris Iffland, Clair (Doris) Iffland, Meredyth Lorenz, Betty (Jim) Rowe, Wilma (John) Jackson and Barbara (Jack) Benner; sister-in-law, Elleen Iffland and brother-in-law, Wayne Barnaby

Cora Belle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell; sons, Gary and Mark; sisters, Eileen Barnaby and Erma Barnaby; brother, Lynford; sister-in-law, Janice Iffland and brothers-in-law, John Cox, Bud Lorenz, Lud Manzagol and Doug Barnaby.

Friends and family may visit Friday, May 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora . Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 3rd at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Mary Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Riga Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Metamora United Methodist Church Building Fund.
