Clifford O. Langenderfer, 90, born July 2nd, 1923 of Swanton, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nelda (Smith); children: Mike (Cyndi), Ann Chapp, Mark (Kate Schwan), Kay, and Lance; sisters: June King, Kitty (Robert) Donahue, Jean (Mac) Simon and Elaine; brother, Kenny (Sally); grandchildren: Matt, Shelli McNett, Mandi, Gabe, Tiffany Garcia, Kurt, Emily & Erik; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Bryce, Braeden, Grant, Eden and one on the way; nieces & nephews, especially Marcia King-Blandford (adopted daughter). Clifford was preceded in death by parents, Omer and Minnie (Buckenmeyer), and brother, Harold.
Clifford farmed his entire life and worked as a foreman at Ohio Tool. He loved hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and was known for his flower gardens. He was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish and Holy Trinity. He served as Past-President of the National Farmers Organization, was a 4 H Advisor, a star basketball player, Vice-President of his class, and participated in track, baseball, glee club, and varsity club. Clifford graduated from Metamora High School Class of 1941. He enjoyed three wonderful camping trips to Alaska and traveled all over the United States camping with their children.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, July 16th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, July 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where the Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richfield Township Fire and Rescue, Berkey, Ohio and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Allison, the nurses, doctors, and staff at Toledo Hospital and Ebeid Hospice at Flower Hospital for their care.
