Calling Hours: Wednesday, February 29th from 3 to 5 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton
Waterville, Ohio
Mother slipped away from us in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, where she had lived for the past 3-1/2 years.
She was born Clara Arleyne to Boyd and Blanche Klinker on March 3, 1925 in Barnes City, Iowa. In 1942, she married Charles Queen, who was killed in WWII. She married Arthur E. Farrand on June 30, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They relocated to Toledo in 1949 and eventually moved to Swanton. She worked at Toledo Express Airport, Curly’s restaurant , Swanton Dry Cleaners, and Wauseon Mfg. She and dad also ran a coffee shop uptown catering to the high school crowd.
Four children were born to Art and Arleyne: Dale, Virginia, David, and Vicky. Dad died in 1987. Mom remained in the house on Miller Street until failing health brought her to Good Shepherd to be closer to Dale. She loved to crochet and do word search puzzles. She made many afghans to give away and was always working on some project.
Left to cherish Arleyne’s memory are her children, Dale (Rebecca) Farrand of Fostoria, OH, Virginia (Tim) Cleary of Mary Esther, FL, David (Cathleen) Farrand of Yellville, AK, and Vicky (Mark) Ford of Toledo, OH; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Sutherland of Swanton, OH, Dorothy Griffith of Colorado Springs, CO, and Elsie Carolyn Miner of Montezuma, IA; sisters-in-law, Pat and Jan Klinker of Naples, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are 3 brothers, Warren, Paul, and Donald Klinker.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, February 29th from 3 to 5 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 1st in the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Bates officiating. Mother will be laid to rest next to daddy at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.
We wish to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Home for their kind and patient care of our mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Home in her memory.
