Charlotte Martha Lumbrezer

Charlotte Martha Lumbrezer, an accomplished organist and piano teacher in Swanton, passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 7, 2014, at Parkcliffe Community in Toledo. She was 95. Charlotte was born January 16, 1919, in Curtice, Ohio to Verner and Martha (Wilhelm) Ames. She was a 1937 graduate of Clay High School and earned her vocal and instrumental degree from The Ohio State University in 1942. She taught music at Lyons High School and Jerusalem Township Elementary. On April 3, 1948, she married Joseph F. Lumbrezer. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2007.

Charlotte was a faithful member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swanton, where she served as their church organist for 45 years. She also gave private piano lessons to several area children.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Denis (Pam) Lumbrezer of Swanton, OH; daughter, Elaine (Thomas) Pickerel of Genoa, OH; grandchildren, Kevin (Sherry) Pickerel, Todd (Stephanie) Pickerel, Kelly (Zach) Stamp, Craig (Emily) Pickerel, Ryan (Emily) Pickerel, Staci Pickerel and LeAnna (Jaime) Velasquez; great-granddchildren, Alexis, Mya and Kaylee Pickerel, Madelyn and Jackson Stamp, Charlotte Elizabeth Pickerel and Gabriel Pickerel. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Esther Ames, Mary Lumbrezer and Irene Warniment; and brother-in-law, Tom (Marge) Lumbrezer.

Besides her husband, Joe, Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman Ames; and brothers-in-law, Sylvester "Jack" and Mel Lumbrezer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9th, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St., in Swanton. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 200 Dodge St. in Swanton, where visitation will be one hour prior. Pastor Ed Strietelmeier will officiate.

Interment will follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Senior Independence Hospice, or Parkcliffe Community.
