Charlene Ruth George, age 84, of Swanton, Ohio, died peacefully, Sunday morning, January 4, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born February 17, 1924 in Swanton, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Henrietta (Weirauch) Mohr. On April 1, 1944, she married Lyle George. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1997.

Charlene was a homemaker raising her four children. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its Rebecca Circle. She helped many years with the church’s rummage sale and also enjoyed attending the church’s “young and the restless” events.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Ed) Miller, Allan (Kaylene Gittus) George, Mikeal (Bonnie Eisel) George and Beth (Duke) Gurwell; as well as her grandchildren, Anissa Yoder, Michael Miller, David Miller, Shondel Merki, Tamra George, Shannon George, Wendy Kennedy, Brandon George, Holly Gurwell and Chance Gurwell, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, January 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home officiated by Minister Brandon J. George and Chad Kennedy. Following a luncheon, graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.
