Cathelene M. “Kay” Hicks, age 48, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born February 13, 1960 in Monroe, Michigan to Leo G. and Virginia (Voss) McDevitt. On May 4, 1979, she married Dale L. Hicks.

Kay was a homemaker raising her four boys. She had a passion for cooking and also loved knitting, crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Dale; mother, Virginia McDevitt; stepson, Dale W. Hicks; sons, Devin, Corey and Riley Hicks; grandchildren, Zander and Breea Lynn Hicks; siblings, Linda Russeau, Jim (Linda) McDevitt, Terrie McDevitt, Pat (Donald) Boucher, Michele (Byron) Rhodes, Rich (Kay) McDevitt, Bob (Sue) McDevitt, Tom (Dawn) McDevitt and Joey (Cheryl) McDevitt; sister-in-law, Gwenn McDevitt and mother-in-law, Nancy Hicks.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Leo; sister, Bethann and brother, John McDevitt and father-in-law, Dale E. Hicks.

The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419-826-2631).

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
