Caroline L. Carpenter

Caroline L. Carpenter, age 63, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, following a long illness, Saturday morning, March 9, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born September 13, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Raymond James and Leona Caroline (Wilder) Crowley. Caroline graduated in 1967 from Rogers High School, and on April 6, 1968, she married her loving husband, James A. Carpenter.

Caroline worked 18-1/2 years as an insurance appraiser for Property Damage Appraisal Company. She was a 25-year member of the Children’s Conservative League. Caroline served numerous voluntary roles within the Swanton Local School District and was an avid supporter of the Swanton SPORTS Boosters. In her spare time, Caroline loved shopping, making crafts, and playing cards with her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her immediate and extended family, especially supporting her 4 granddaughters in their activities.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 44 years, James; sons, James, Jr. (Kathy) Carpenter and Jeffery (Janelle) Carpenter; and daughter, Kristen Carpenter (Fiance, Philip Benner); granddaughters, Jessica, Erica, Ainsley, and Addison; siblings, Marilyn (Richard) Guy, Jean (Bill) Kirchner, Helen (Ernest) Crum, Elizabeth Goffe, Franklin (Pam) Crowley; brother-in-law, Kurt Zimmerman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Madeline Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, James Goffe.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, March12th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St., Swanton, OH 43558 (419.826.2631). Services for the family will be private.
