Mrs. Carol Ann Zenk, age 90, of Wauseon, Ohio, embraced eternal peace on Wednesday afternoon, April 24, 2024, as she was reunited with her beloved husband, David L. Zenk. Born on April 7, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, Carol was the cherished daughter of Jacob Frank and Esther Welter.
Carol's journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to education and a deep love for her family. She graduated from Swanton High School in 1952 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Mary Manse College in Toledo in 1956. On December 26, 1962, she married her childhood sweetheart, David Zenk, sharing 57 years of love and companionship until his passing on December 22, 2020.For over three decades, Carol dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as a devoted 4th-grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary School. Her impact on her students extended far beyond the classroom, shaping the lives of countless children with her kindness, patience, and dedication.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Carol found joy in exploring the world. She delighted in traveling across the country, with a particular fondness for visits to Hawaii and Alaska. Additionally, she had a passion for collecting unique treasures, each item a reflection of her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life's beauty.
Carol is survived by her brother Charles (and Darlene) Welter and his family, John and Ashley Junkin (Welter), Christopher and Jessica Schieber (Welter), John and Courtney Degnan (Welter). Along with David's brothers and families, Harold (& Diane) Zenk, Ivan (& Charlene) Zenk, Helen Bateson, Janet Pawlaczyk, Diane Brown and Patricia (Michael) Bergquist; brother-in-law; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; godchildren and her four-legged companion, Tommy.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, brother Richard Welter, sister-in-law Judith Ann Welter, and various relatives, Carol leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Carol's life will be held Friday, May 17th at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church – Marygrove, where visitation will be one hour prior. Monsignor Dennis Metzger will preside. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, honoring Carol's spirit of generosity and compassion.
