Carol J. Delap

Carol J. Delap, age 65, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away at her home following a courageous battle with cancer, Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 12, 1948 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Esther (Wroblewski) Hornburg. Carol was a graduate of Necedah High School – Class of ’66. On April 23, 1976, she married her beloved husband Vernon Leroy Delap. Carol started working for AMC in 1974, before being transferred to work for the Jeep Corporation in Toledo,OH in 1985. While working full-time, Carol attended the University of Toledo, and eventually obtained her Masters Degree in Psychology in 2001.

Carol loved sewing, gardening, cooking, canning, and traveling. She was also an avid reader and collector of old books. Carol loved all animals and supported animal rights.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 37 years Vernon; daughter, Anita (Brian) Hill of Kenosha, WI; son, Vernon L. Delap of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie Starling of Milwaukee, WI, Samantha and Jake Starling both of Kenosha, WI; step grandchildren, Rozlya, Soraya, Trey, and Denalia; sister, Barbara Burger of Steinhatchee, FL; brother, Harold “Butch” Hornburg of McDonough, GA; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Michael) Cole and Laurie (Donald) Geyer; and brother-in-law, Harold Delap; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Esther Hornburg.; and father and mother-in-law, Vernon A. and Dorothy Delap.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Visitation will continue Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilmot, Wisconsin, where funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. James Fischer officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Bayview Cemetery in Necedah, Wisconsin.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 17th from 2 to 6 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Funeral Services: Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 am at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilmot, Wisconsin, with visitation from 9 am to 10 am

Interment: Bayview Cemetery, Nacedah, Wisconsin
