Carol A. Budy, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at her residence in Swanton, Ohio. Born January 7, 1935 to Roman and Martha (Popek) Spychalski. One of twelve children, Carol worked in the St. Joseph’s kitchen at Lourdes College with her sister, Pat, for many years, and also worked at the Rib House and the canteen at St. George’s Bingo Hall. Carol began her food service career at Scott Park Hamburger on Nebraska Ave. at age 15.

A loving and caring person, Carol enjoyed watching football, classic movies and had a tremendous talent for baking and cooking, which was enjoyed by family and friends. A parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Toledo for many years, Carol then became parishioner at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard Budy; oldest son, David Budy; brothers, Ralph and Ernest and sisters, Patricia and Eleanor.

She is survived by her children, Mark Budy, Bonnie “Scooby” Budy and John (Rose) Budy; grandchildren, Shawn, Catherine, Angela, Tiffany and Amber; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Addison and brothers, Ollie Spychalski, Melvin (Patricia), Raymond (Nancy), Donald (Peggy), Robert (Bonnie), Eugene (Joyce) and Richard (Vicky) Spychalski.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, September 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419-826-2631).

Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
