Carl W. Beckman Jr, age 73, passed away peacefully, with the love of his life Linda by his bedside, Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023, at the Swanton Valley Care Center. He was born February 12, 1950, in Oakland, Nebraska to Rev. Carl, Sr. and Charlotte (Wolf) Beckman, and was a 1968 graduate of Bowsher High School. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
After serving in the military, he went back to school and pursued a career in law enforcement. Carl worked as a police officer for the City of Sylvania for 36 years. He had many passions in life, including riding his beloved Harley Davidson low rider, and playing keyboard in his band The Royals. He also loved eating at Texas Roadhouse on several occasions.
Carl is survived by the love of his life, his companion and devoted caregiver, Linda Bailey-Leslie; sister, Mary O’Keefe; 3 nephews and a niece, Linda’s daughter, Diane (Roy); grandsons, Jesse and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Benny; his dear canine friend Sammy; lifelong friends, Russ and Laurie Williams; special neighbors and friends, Rob Dick, Janice and Ken Layman, Mary Wood, Sandy and Eric, and Matt (our town clown Happy).
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Alan Beckman and brother-in-law, William O’Keefe.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 3rd from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 (Noon), with Pastor Jeff Carroll presiding. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
