Bonita "Bonnie" Marie Serr, age 66, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 4, 2019, in the emergency room at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born September 11, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to Edwin and Thelma (Yedica) Koperski. Bonnie was a 1971 graduate of Swanton High School. Bonnie has been courageously battling bladder cancer since 2011, and recently received the news she was cancer free.
Bonnie worked for Zwyers Egg Farm, was a housekeeper at the Airport Motel, and retired as an assistant manager from Dollar General where she worked 10 years.. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers fan. She enjoyed playing card games and playing games on the computer. However, her family was her number one priority, she loved spending time with them.
Bonnie will be greatly missed by her daughters, Melanie Koperski, Bobbie Jo Paul, Leslie Serr; son, Alec Serr; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Veres (Don Todd); brother-in-law, Stephan (Vickie) Serr; many nieces and nephews, and of course her cats, Baby and Precious.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Edwin and Thelma and her sister, Patricia Butler.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, August 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services celebrating Bonnie's life will begin at 7:00 p.m.
