Betty Lawrence

Betty Lawrence, age 95, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 17, 2023 at the Evergreen Health Center in Montpelier, Ohio. She was born August 15, 1928, in Swanton, Ohio to Glenn Irving and Ruth Marie (Fancher) Bell. Betty graduated from Monclova High School in 1947, and she went on to marry the love of her life, Walter Lawrence, on October 14, 1950.

Betty worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years. She was a loving and caring mother, while keeping busy in the community as well. Betty was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Swanton United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her children; daughters, Connie (Roy) Gillen, Janet Lawrence; son, Lee Lawrence; grandchildren, Matthew (Konnie) Gillen, Andrew (Colleen) Gillen, Nicole Jackson, David Lawrence, Kyle Lawrence and Tyler Lawrence; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way and many loved nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; Son, Larry Lawrence; brothers, George, James, and John Bell; Sister, Clara Mae Everett; grandchildren, Christopher and Jaclynn Lawrence; great- granddaughter, Brynn Gillen; and many loved in- laws.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 22nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, Ohio. Visitation will continue at the Weigel Funeral Home Monday, October 23rd from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, where a Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Justin McCall presiding. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
