Bessie Marie Studenka

Bessie Marie Studenka, age 94, of Jasper, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday morning, November 15, 2012, with her loving daughter, Judy at her bedside. She was born August 7, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Martin and Katherine (Bacik) Pomykal. In 1938 she married Charles Studenka at St. Mary’s, and they resided on a farm in Jasper. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Bessie worked in Adrian, Michigan at the Hurdlock, Cardinal and Champion Companies. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, the Czech Dancers Polka Club, and the American-Czech-Slovak Dance Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy; sisters-in-law, Frances Smahay and Mary Studenka; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her beloved husband, Charles, Bessie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Stefanick and Lillian Janik.

Family and friends may visit Monday, November 19th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Great Lakes Hospice or the donor’s choice.
