Bertille Elizabeth Simon, affectionately known as “Till”, age 96, of Assumption, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Thursday morning, January 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born August 6, 1914 in Swanton, Ohio to Jacob Peter and Catherine Mary (Fust) Brick. On November 30, 1935, she married William G. Simon. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1998. Mrs. Simon worked as a housekeeper for homes in the Ottawa Hills and Swanton area.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Rosary & Altar Society, Metamora Senior Center, Wauseon Elks, Delta Eagles, Catholic War Veterans Post #306 Ladies Auxiliary in Assumption, and Catholic Knights of Ohio Ladies Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Marilyn (Ray) Heintschel and Thomas (Sally) Simon, both of Assumption; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ollie Simon; niece, Joycemarie Brick; and nephews, David Brick and Bernie Baumgardner.

Till was reunited with her husband, William; her parents; daughters, Marjorie Ann (Jerry) Fick and Joan Elizabeth Simon; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, January 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a Ladies Auxiliary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., followed with reciting the Rosary. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Monday, January 31st at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Building Fund.

A heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Swanton Health Care for the wonderful care and concern they had for mom during her 3-year residence.
