Audrey Rose Layman, age 87, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born August 29, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio to Roy and Gussie (Klein) McCleary. She married Ralph Layman and he preceded her in death in 1956. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother.

Mrs. Layman was a Swanton elementary school teacher for over 20 years. She was a member of the Ohio State Retired Teacher’s Association and the Toledo Area Gem & Mineral Society.

Mrs. Layman was a faithful member of St. Richard’s Catholic Parish and member of its Rosary & Altar Society, Rosary prayer group and Rosary maker’s group.

With the help of the wonderful staff of Swanton Health Care, Mrs. Layman recently completed a life long dream to write a children’s book.

She is survived by her sons, Roy (Carol) Layman of Wildwood, FL and Kenneth (Janice) Layman of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Lynette Layman, Nancy Layman, Daniel Layman, Kevin Layman, Sandy (Ross) Carr and Julie (Scott) Kosier, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, October 8th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Daniel Zak will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard’s School Endowment Fund.
