Arthur L. Wheeler, affectionately known as Mike, age 67, of Swanton, Ohio, lost his courageous battle with cancer, late Friday evening, June 18, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 19, 1942 in Fremont, Ohio. On April 28, 1962, he married Mary Meiring. He was owner and operator of Midwest Auto Parts in Toledo from 1978-1986, and later retired from Toledo Screw Products.

Mike was a long-time parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and camping. He had a great love for the outdoors, especially fishing.

Mike was very devoted to his wife and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary; mother, Florence Ferguson; children, Michael (Kelley) Wheeler (Emily, Katie and Mikey), James (Dawn) Wheeler (Ryan (Anastasia) and Matthew), JoAnn (Wally) Meiring (Justin Tappan, Kristin (Brent) Sheller), Steven (Diana) Wheeler (Julie (Justin) Roth and Nick Wheeler) and the expected arrival of his 1st great-grandchild in July – Lauren Jo Sheller.

Mike was preceded in death by his stepfather, Earl Costin.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, June 22nd from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
