Archie R. “Butch” Hobling, age 53, of Swanton, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Flower Hospital. He was employed by Fulton County, working in the highway maintenance department.
Born July 9, 1957 to Melvin and Betty (Good) Hobling, Butch was a 1975 graduate of Evergreen High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy. On March 28, 1980, he married Diane Raab, and they enjoyed over 30 years together.
Butch loved spending time with family and friends playing cards and clowning around with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, working on cars, and had a passion for racing. In 1986 he began what would become a 17-year dirt track racing career.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Diane; daughters, Alysia (Jeremiah) Snyder and Jamie Hobling; mother, Betty Hobling; and sister, Becky (Chuck) Fleming. He also leaves behind numerous family and friends that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Hobling and brother-in-law, Ronald Raab.
Family and friends may visit Friday, March 11th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Wolfinger Cemetery.
