Anne Marie Gillen, age 84, life long resident of Swanton, Ohio, entered through the gates of heaven, Saturday morning, August 9, 2014, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born August 26, 1929 to the late Louis John and Mary Kathryn (Vershum) Gillen.
Anne Marie was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. She was the housekeeper for several years at the church Rectory, until her retirement in 1990.
She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and prayed the Rosary daily. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic War Veterans Post #306 Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic Order of Forresters, and the former Metamora and Berkey Senior Citizens groups.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Gillen of Lima, OH; niece, Kathryn (Douglas) Brown; nephew, James, Jr. (Vickie) Gillen; as well as many cousins; special friends and neighbors.
Anne Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Kathryn; and brother, James Gillen.
Friends and family may visit Tuesday, August 12th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora (419.644.3601), where a CWV Ladies Auxiliary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning, August 13th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Marty Nassr presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church for Masses.
