Anna Elline (Vaughan) Williams, youngest child of Ellis and Bashie (Shufelt) Vaughan passed on while under the loving care of Swanton Health and Retirement Center on Monday, April 26, 2010. Anna was 96 years old. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, George A. Williams in 2000; their only child, George V. Williams in January 2009; and 11 siblings: Grace Habel, Vivian Griesinger, Vernon Vaughan, Francis Overmeyer, Kenneth G. Vaughan, Gladys Kreft, Wilma Ehret, and very young children, Doris, James, and two infants.

Anna is survived by a granddaughter, Ginny Yeary of Aubrey, Texas, three great- grandchildren of Aubrey, Texas as well as 21 nieces and nephews and 61 great-nieces and nephews.

Anna was an artist, and had been employed as an artist for the Radcliffe Company during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Anna and her late husband enjoyed fishing throughout their marriage and as an artist, Anna painted the picture of the rainbow trout on the clubhouse of the Merickle Farley Trout Club. She also painted in oils, typically still life paintings.

Anna was born and raised in Fulton County, lived most of her married life in Toledo and returned to Swanton about 14 years ago to be closer to family.

Anna has donated her body to the Anatomical Department of The University of Toledo Medical Center. A Memorial Service celebrating Anna’s life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut Street in Swanton, Ohio, with Reverend Pat Shafer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairgreen Prebyterian Church, 3220 Laskey Road, Toledo, OH 43613.
