Alice G. Snyder, age 85, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday morning, December 30, 2008, at her home in Metamora. She was born September 23, 1923 in Adrian, Michigan to the late Clarence A. and Mable (Mead) Force. On May 2, 1942, she married James F. Snyder, Sr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Assumption, where she was a lifetime member. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1991.
Alice was an avid gardener, loved watching the birds and butterflies, and enjoyed boating and traveling. She was known for making the best pies in the world. She was a wonderful, kind and loving mother, and taught her children many values of life.
She is survived by her children, James F. Snyder, Jr. of Castro Valley, CA, Richard (Mary) Snyder of Toledo, OH, Karen (Bruce) Baker of Solon, Iowa, Paula Taylor of Livermore, CA, and Elizabeth (Kevin) Jones of Metamora, OH; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and special nephew, Victor (Janice) Force of Hendersonville, SC.
Besides her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by her 2 sisters; 5 brothers; granddaughter, Brooke Baker, special nephew, Peter Force and son-in-law, Michael Taylor.
Friends and family may visit Friday, January 2nd from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3rd, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Frederick Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Parish or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Flower Hospital Oncology Department for the wonderful care and comfort they gave their mother in her time of need.
